Despite originally being conceived as a response to the local needs around the DCSF’s ContactPoint project, LAconnect is not a single product, it is a collection of services that can be brought together to perform multiple functions. The more services that become available, the more capability the ‘toolkit’ has. The LAconnect community will exist to allow all interested parties to exchange ideas, information, requirements and solutions; it will encourage the development of LAconnect services by multiple parties and therefore increase the value of the ‘toolkit’ to public sector bodies.
In order to manage this community Sheffield City Council and Adaro Software have agreed to establish a community site, providing facilities to encourage the sharing of LAconnect experiences and also to encourage the 3rd party development of LAconnect services (and, it is hoped, the sharing of these services). The LAconnect community will also be able to offer limited support to existing LAconnect users or for those organisations who are evaluating the technology. Adaro Software will also offer formal, commercial support in addition to the community.
