About LAconnect
Introduction and History of LAconnectLAconnect was initially conceived by Sheffield City Council as a direct result of their involvement with the DCSF IISaM (Improving Information Sharing and Management) programme. Sheffield City Council was one of the original trailblazer authorities in this area and one of the few to establish a local, operational prototype for the governments ContactPoint system. Adaro Software worked with Sheffield on this project providing integration services. The considerable experience gained since 2003 from deploying and operating such a system has significantly informed the development of LAconnect.

Technical DesignLAconnect is the collective name given to a suite of interoperable software services. These services may be joined together (rather like Lego® bricks) to create LAconnect applications or to perform specific functions. The individual services are reusable, so for example, a single search service can be used in multiple applications. Each service has a published set of input and outputs (often referred to as the services ‘contract’) and, providing the rules of the ‘contract’ are met, it will happily respond to all messages it receives.
